Marina was incorporated in 1975 and is the newest city in the Monterey area. Once home to 25,000 soldiers of Fort Ord, Marina is home to the Fort Ord National Monument with 86 miles of trails to explore! It includes part of the California State University, Monterey Bay campus, the UC Santa Cruz UC MBEST center, and the Veterans Transition Center (VTC). In 2012, Marina was named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People by America's Promise Alliance. In 2023, 98 homes were sold in Marina, with an average price of $971,000 for a single-family home and $653,000 for condos/townhomes.
